I have been teaching piano for over 30 years. A native of Manitoba, I began playing piano and french horn and performing in festivals and concerts from a young age. I studied with Dr. Lawrence Jones and Donald Henry at Brandon University before completing my Bachelor of Music degree at McGill University in Montreal (1989). There I studied piano under Thomas Plaunt and song interpretation with Michael McMahon and Jan Simons.
After graduation, I travelled to Brazil to study the music of the Afro-Brazilian martial art, Capoeira. I moved to Toronto to complete a Master's Degree in Ethnomusicology at York University (1991). While in Toronto I became involved as a pianist and music director for music theatre productions and started up my private piano studio.
I obtained my Bachelor of Education from OISE/U of T in 1999 and have been teaching high school music, producing musicals and directing choirs in the Toronto District School Board for over 16 years. I completed my ARCT with the Royal Conservatory of Music and have been adjudicating piano festivals and working as a member of the College of Examiners all across Canada and in the United States since 2000.
